Bryan Strawser

Background

Bryan StrawserBryan Strawser is Founder, Principal, and CEO of Bryghtpath LLC – a global strategic advisory firm specializing in crisis management, business resilience, crisis communications, and global risk/security issues. Mr. Strawser previously worked at Target Corporation where he built and led the Global Crisis Management, Business Continuity, and Global Intelligence function. During his 21 years at Target, Mr. Strawser led the organization’s preparedness, response, and recovery efforts for many major natural disasters, acts of violence, and other crises. Under his leadership, Target received numerous awards from FEMA, the International Association of Emergency Managers, and the Business Continuity Institute.
 
Mr. Strawser previously served as a board member and Chair of the Private Sector Committee for the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA, 2011 – 2013) and as Vice Chairman of the Retail Industry Leaders Association’s Disaster Recovery and Preparedness Committee.  In these roles, Mr. Strawser worked closely with FEMA to develop the Private Sector Representative position in FEMA’s Office of the Private Sector and with leaders across state and federal government, including the US Department of Homeland Security and the White House, to build stronger connections between the public and private sectors.
 
During the 2016 – 2017 academic year, Mr. Strawser as a Humphrey Policy Fellow at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Mr. Strawser holds multiple professional certifications in business continuity, emergency management, information security, project management, and physical security. He is a member of the International Association of Professional Security Consultants, the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, and the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House, London).
