Dan Caine

Background

Dan CaineDan Caine is a successful founder, entrepreneur, business executive, senior military officer, and pilot.  He currently serves as the CEO of The Caine Group which focuses on investing in and growing Aerospace, Defense, Real-estate, and Energy companies.  Caine also continues to serve as a Brigadier General assigned to the Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC, as an Assistant Commanding General.
 
Prior to his entry into the private sector, Caine served as an F-16 Fighter Pilot and Special Operations Officer.  In 1999, he was the Outstanding Graduate of the F-16 Fighter Weapons School (USAF TopGun).  On the morning of September 11th 2001, Caine was the Mission Commander over Washington D.C.  He then deployed to Afghanistan where he flew critical combat missions and to Iraq where he deployed multiple times in various airborne and ground combat roles.  In 2004, Caine was awarded the LtGen Claire Lee Chennault award as the USAF’s most outstanding aerial warfare tactician in addition to his Distinguished Flying Cross and two Bronze Stars.   
 
In 2005, Caine was selected to the White House Fellows Program and served as a Special Assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture where he led the Department’s Hurricane Katrina lessons learned effort and the Department’s Avian Flu (H5N1) portfolio.  Following his Fellowship, Caine served as a Policy Director on the Homeland Security Council Staff at the White House where he was responsible for interagency and intra-White House policy development and coordination. He was a principal author of the Presidents’ 2007 National Strategy for Homeland Security.
 
In 2008, following his service at the White House, Caine again deployed to Iraq and served as the J3 (COO) and subsequently Commander (CEO) of a Special Operations unit engaged in counterterrorism combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Caine serves on several boards including the UT at Dallas Historical Aviation Collection Advisory Board, and The Frontiers of Flight Museum Board of Directors.  He previously served as the Chair of the SBA Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs. In 2017, he was appointed to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships.
 
Caine is a current and qualified Air Transport Pilot and Commercial Pilot with over 5000 hours in single and multi-engine aircraft ranging from F-16s to light sport aircraft.  He is a member of NBAA, AIA, AOPA, the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association, the National Guard Association and the White House Fellows Alumni Association. 
 
Caine earned a B.A. degree in Economics from the Virginia Military Institute and an M.A. with honors from the American Military University.
